Sky Stream & Puck Guide: Is It Worth It in 2026?

Updated June 2026 with current pricing, channel listings and UK setup steps. Sky Stream is Sky's dish-free alternative to Sky Q. Instead of a satellite installation, Sky Stream uses a compact “puck” device that plugs into your TV and streams all Sky content over your broadband connection. It offers the same Sky channels, on-demand library, and voice-controlled interface — without the dish on your wall, the engineer visit, or the bulky set-top box.

This guide covers Sky Stream pricing, the puck hardware, what channels and features are included, how it compares to Sky Q and NOW TV, and whether it represents good value in 2026. For the broader TV deals landscape, see our TV and broadband deals guide.

What Is Sky Stream?

Sky Stream is Sky's internet-delivered TV platform that replaces the traditional satellite dish and Sky Q box. The “puck” is a small, disc-shaped device (roughly the size of a coaster) that connects to your TV via HDMI and to your home WiFi for content delivery. It runs a streamlined version of Sky's operating system with the same interface, channel guide, and voice search as Sky Q — just without satellite dependency.

The puck is included free with Sky Stream subscriptions (no separate hardware purchase). Installation is self-service — you plug it in, connect to WiFi, and sign in with your Sky account. No engineer visit, no drilling holes in your wall, no dish alignment. This makes Sky Stream ideal for renters, flat-dwellers, and anyone who wants Sky content without the physical infrastructure of a satellite installation.

Sky Stream Pricing & Plans

Sky Stream packages mirror Sky Q pricing but without the satellite installation cost. The entry-level Entertainment package starts from around £29 per month on a 24-month contract (sometimes reduced to £26 with promotions). Adding Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, Netflix, Disney+, or other add-ons increases the monthly price.

EntertainmentFrom ~£29/mo
+ Sky Cinema+ ~£11/mo
+ Sky Sports+ ~£20/mo
+ Netflix Standard+ ~£7/mo (discounted vs direct)
Contract24 months

The 24-month contract is longer than Sky Q's typical 18 months, which is worth considering. For contract-free access to the same Sky content, our NOW TV guide covers month-to-month options. For the cheapest Netflix add-on specifically, our Netflix offers page compares bundled pricing.

Channels & Content

Sky Stream offers essentially the same channel lineup as Sky Q: over 150 Sky channels including Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Nature, and the full Sky Sports and Sky Cinema lineups (if you subscribe to them). Freeview channels are integrated, and catch-up from BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, and My5 is built into the interface.

Third-party streaming apps including Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Paramount+ are available directly through the Sky Stream interface, making it a genuine all-in-one entertainment hub. For a comparison of these streaming services, our Now TV vs Netflix vs Disney+ article covers pricing and content differences.

The biggest trade-off is recording. Sky Q's built-in hard drive lets you record programmes, pause live TV, and build a library. Sky Stream relies entirely on on-demand availability — if a programme is not in Sky's catch-up library, you cannot watch it later. For most popular shows this is not an issue, but occasional one-off broadcasts may be missed.

Is Sky Stream Worth It?

Sky Stream is worth it if you want Sky content without a satellite dish, you are in a rented property, or you simply prefer the simplicity of internet-delivered TV. The self-install process is genuinely quick (under 10 minutes) and the puck is compact and unobtrusive.

It is not worth it if you need recording capability (get Sky Q instead), you have unreliable broadband (satellite is more stable), or you only want occasional Sky content (get NOW TV month-to-month instead). And if your main goal is saving money, our IPTV guide covers services with similar content at a fraction of Sky's price, while our free streaming guide covers everything you can watch without paying at all.
