Content Comparison
Netflix has the largest original content library of any streaming service. Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton, and hundreds of other Netflix Originals are exclusive to the platform. The general library is broad but has thinned as studios reclaimed content for their own platforms. Netflix is strongest for binge-watching original series and international content (particularly Korean drama and anime).
Disney+ dominates franchise content: every Marvel film and series, all Star Wars content, Pixar films, Disney animated classics, and National Geographic documentaries. The Star section adds adult-oriented content from 20th Century Studios, FX, and Searchlight Pictures. For families with children, Disney+ is often the most-used service in the household.
NOW Entertainment provides Sky Atlantic content (including HBO shows), Sky Originals, and a selection of box sets from Sky's channel lineup. It is the only way to legally watch HBO content in the UK without a Sky TV subscription. The library is smaller than Netflix or Disney+ but curated for quality over quantity. For the full NOW breakdown, see our Sky vs Now TV comparison.
Streaming Quality
Disney+ offers the best quality-to-price ratio: 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is included on the standard ad-free plan at £10.99. Netflix requires the Premium plan at £17.99 for 4K. NOW maxes out at 1080p Full HD with the Boost add-on (£6 extra) and does not support 4K, HDR, or Dolby Atmos at all.
For viewers with 4K TVs who care about picture quality, Disney+ is the clear winner on value. Our 4K streaming services guide compares quality across all platforms including Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime.
